Islamabad (A Correspondent): K-Electric and Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) will finalize gas purchase deal soon. Pakistan LNG will provide gas to K-Electric from January 2021 to December 2025. The Cabinet Committee on Energy (CCOE) approved this decision on Friday.
The committee also approved additional supply of extra 350MW electricity to K-Electric from the national grid. This supply will start from 2022. In addition to new approval, the cabinet committee has already approved 500MW supply from K-2 and K-3 projects.
The Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar, chaired CCOE meeting. He was briefed on the power demand and supply situation in Karachi over the next three to four years.
Imported gas will be supplied to boost production capacity of K-Electric. Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority will notify tariff of the imported LNG.
Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL) is a public sector entity incorporated under the Pakistan Companies Ordinance 1984 and operates under the governance of the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), Government of Pakistan (“GOP”). It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Government Holdings Private Limited (“GHPL”).
